Here we go....

Birds have interested me for some time and I want to share that interest with all who will listen for a couple of minutes. This blog is born out of a desire to support the small circle of birding friends I have now and to bring others into that circle. There is a universe of birding resources out there and it's hard to know where to start. It's hard to decide which birding field guide to buy. What about binoculars or spotting scopes? New smart phone technologies that help with bird identification, song playback, keeping life lists and county lists and hotspot lists. It goes on and on.


I will share what I have found over the years and whether I found it to be useful. I hope others will contribute their experiences. I'm going to try and build a group of like-minded birders here in Northeast Washington State that will enjoy birding together and will actively try to bring others in to this casual circle of friends.


This blog will avoid politics at all costs.  It's about getting outside and making contact with wild birds. This site will not advocate for any special interest issue (there are already plenty of those to get involved with). It's about building a circle of birding friends with whom we can share our off beat little passion. Enough for now. More to come. -Hawkeye
